Profil: Penny Goldsmith has worked in the anti-poverty community for over thirty years, as an advocate, as a writer of public legal education materials in plain language, and for the past sixteen years as the executive co-ordinator of PovNet, an online information resource, communication network and teaching tool for anti-poverty front line workers, community activists and poor and otherwise marginalized people. She maintains a strong commitment to continuing to be part of a network that builds accessible and affordable online communities. Penny is also the owner of Lazara Press, a publisher of poetry, literature, broadsides, and chapbooks and a Discussions series — a forum for provocative and challenging essays and speeches which address current issues of interest and concern. The press is committed to publishing, keeping in print and distributing works that might not otherwise be available.
On the line online: The PovNet story. I am working on a book about PovNet that came out of the Carold Institute fellowship and the interviews that I did with front line workers during the time that I had off from my day-to-day work at PovNet.
